Mrs. Sarah Holmes Edwards of 912 Widgeon road, mother of Miss Willie Mae 
Edwards, principal of John T. West Elementary school, died at her home on 
March 4 after a short illness.

Mrs. Edwards, daughter of the late Daniel and Mrs. Willie Jackson Holmes, 
was the widow of Frank S. Edwards. She was a native of Norfolk.

Funeral services were held Sunday March 6 at First Baptist Church where she 
held membership, and was active in the Gospel Chorus, Missionary Society and 
the Willing Workers Bible Class.

The Rev. E. Paul Simms, pastor, officiated at the afternoon rites followed 
by burial in Calvary Cemetery.

Also surviving in addition to Miss Willie Mae Edwards is another daughter 
Miss Thelma Edwards also of Norfolk.

Hale Funeral Home had charge of funeral arrangements.
