Edwards, 77, Tuner-Technician And Organist, Dies William Henry Edwards, 77, dean of tuner-technicians here and a well known organist, died in a Norfolk hospital yesterday after a short illness. He had been in failing health for a year. Familiar with all makes of pianos, he had been a tuner for 45 years. Beginning with piano tuning, he mastered the playing of the organ and served several churches, among them St. Paul's Episcopal, in Norfolk, and St. John's Episcopal, in Portsmouth. Mr. Edwards also played the bass fiddle and was first violinist in the City Orchestra for a number of years before World War I. Son of the late William J. Edwards and Mrs. Virginia Caroline Edwards, he was a native of Berkley and had resided in South Norfolk most of his life. He made his home at 1110 Rodgers Street. He was a member of St. Bride's Episcopal Church and a member of the Beacon Bible Class of the Chesapeake Avenue Methodist Church. He was associated with the American Guild of Organists and had been employed by the Milton Music Company as a piano tuner. Surviving are one sister, Mrs. W.S. Rountrey, of South Norfolk, and seven nieces. The body was removed to the Francis A. Gay Funeral Home, South Norfolk, where funeral services will be conducted today at 4 p.m. Burial will be in Magnolia Cemetery, Berkley.
