Norfolk Virginian February 20, 1885
The Norfolk public is pained to hear of the death of Major O. W. Edwards, a 
highly-esteemed citizen of this city. Major Edwards was a native of Norfolk and 
was 72 years of age at the time of his death. He was a brother of Capt. O. E. 
Edwards, a Mexican veteran, and uncle of Capt. Oscar E. Edwards. He was a man of 
excellent qualities and noted for his strict integrity and high moral character. 
He leaves four sons and two daughters and a host of affectionate friends who 
grieve that he has been called away.
