He was a son of the late Arthur Edwards Sr. and Mrs. Rose Edwards and was born in Norfolk. He had worked 13 years at the Norfolk & Western Grain Elevator and was an Army veteran of World War II. He was a member of St. Andrews Lodge 1, Bollingbrook, and First Baptist Church of Bollingbrook, where he was a senior deacon and member of the senior choir. Surviving are his widow, Mrs. Mary E. Edwards; one son, Arthur Edwards III of Carrsville; two foster daughters, Miss Ruth Patricia Mayfield and Miss Martha Jeannette Mayfield of Norfolk; five sisters, Mrs. Julia Gray, Mrs. Corrine McGlone, Mrs. Rebecca Perry, Mrs. Hester Cranberry and Mrs. Verlise Thompson; two brothers, Russell Edwards and Hugh Edwards, all of Norfolk. The body was taken to Riddick Funeral Home. Additional Comments: NORFOLK - A funeral service for Arthur Edwards Jr., who died Friday, will be conducted Sunday at 1:30 p.m. in First Baptist Church, Bollingbrook by the Rev. S.B. Lewis, pastor. Burial will be in Calvary cemetery with full military honors.
