The Virginian-Pilot, Monday, August 3, 1959

NORFOLK - Louis W. Edwards, 72, of 734 Goff St., died Sunday at 9 p.m. at his home
after a long illness.

He was the son of the late Louis and Mrs. Lula Edwards. He was a native of Greene
County, N.C. He had lived in Norfolk over 54 years, and had owned and operated a
grocery store at 734 Goff St. until he retired in 1958.

He was a member of North Mount Olive Baptist church, where he served on the deacon
board for over 35 years.

He is survived by his wife, Mrs. Mollie Edwards; two sisters, Mrs. Hattie Swion and
Miss Malissa Edwards, both of Greene County, N.C.; and four brothers, Charlie
Edwards of Chicago, Albert Edwards, David Edwards, and Apt Edwards, all of Greene
County.

The body was taken to Graves Funeral Home pending arrangements.
