VIRGINIA BEACH - Rex Lanier Edwards, 68, died July 31, 2005, in a local hospital.

A native of North Carolina, he was the son of the late John and Annie Mae Edwards 
and was the widower of Margaret "Peggie" Edwards.

Mr. Edwards worked for CFW Construction Co., in Virginia Beach, as a commercial 
construction estimator.  He was a member of the Builders and Contractors Exchange 
and had, in his earlier years, held a commercial pilot's license.  He was an avid 
golfer.

Survivors include his daughters, Bridget A. Edwards, and her fiance, Brian L. 
Harrell, of Virginia Beach, and Stephanie Marie Edwards, of St. Petersburg, Fla.; 
his son, Rex L. Edwards, Jr., and wife, Cynthia, of Culpepper, Va.; his sister, 
Anne Fields, of Montpelier, Va.; and his two grandchildren, Halley Margaret 
Edwards and James Ethan Edwards.

Graveside services will be held Thursday at 11 a.m. in St. Mary's Catholic 
Cemetery.  The family will receive friends Wednesday from 6 to 8 p.m. in the 
Norfolk Chapel of H.D. Oliver Funeral Apts.

The family requests donations be made to the American Cancer Society.
