Virginian-Pilot, The (Norfolk, VA) - Saturday, January 29, 1994 
Jessie Mae Edwards, 81, of the 1500 block of St. Julian Ave., died Jan. 27,
1994, in Sentara Norfolk General Hospital.

Mrs. Edwarsd was born in Norfolk. She was a faithful member of Union Chapel AME
Church, Norfolk, the Stewardess Board, former church secretary and mother of the
church.

Survivors include one daughter, Arthurlyn Stephenson of Norfolk; two
grandchildren, Derrell Stephenson Hudgins and Kim Stephenson, both of Norfolk;
six great-grandchildren, Brad, Jay, Tyler and Nikki Hudgins, Bryant Wiggins and
Jonathan Stephenson; two nephews, Ellsworth Oliver of Norfolk and Bernard Sawyer
of northern Virginia; and two sisters-in-law, Arlethia Sawyer of Chesapeake and
Essie Sawyer of Norfolk.

A funeral will be conducted at 1 p.m. Monday in Union Chapel AME Church by the
Rev. Clifton R. Wilson. Burial will be in Calvary Cemetery , Norfolk. The body
will be taken to the church at 10 a.m. Friends may join the family at the
residence. Graves Funeral Home is handling arrangements.
