Norfolk Virginian Pilot September 27, 1940

Mrs. Martha Torksey Edwards, aged 70, widow of John A. Edwards, daughter of 
William J. and Mrs. Emily Jane Torksey, a native of Driver and a resident of 
Norfolk since early childhood, died at a local hospital yesterday morning at 
5:40 o'clock after a long illness. She is survived by one sister, Mrs. Robert H. 
Elliott, of Columbus, O. and a number of nieces and nephews.
Funeral services will be conducted at the Ewell & Williamson Funeral Home, 
Thirty-fifth Street at Colonial Avenue, tomorrow afternoon at 2 o'clock. The 
Rev. Henry A. Harrell, D.D., pastor of the Ocean View Methodist Church of which 
Mrs. Edwards was a member, will officiate.  Interment will be in Elmwood 
Cemetery.
