Virginian Pilot December 1, 1899

Mr. George M. Edwards, of Brunswick, Ga., departed this life yesterday morning 
at the residence of his son-in-law, Mr. James S. Groves, No. 115 Lovitt Avenue, 
after an illness of one week with pneumonia.  The deceased was 72 years of age 
and leaves a wife and four children, Mrs. B.F. Allen, Mrs. James S. Groves, Mrs. 
Owens and Mr. G.S. Edwards, all residents of Norfolk. Mr. Edwards was for a 
number of years a prominent dealer in lumber in Georgia, but about a year ago 
removed to Norfolk to be with his children.  The funeral will take place from 
the residence at 11 o'clock this morning.

EDWARDS - At the residence of his son-in-law, J.S. Groves, No. 115 Lovitt 
Avenue, Thursday, November 30th, at 6:15 a.m., GEORGE M. EDWARDS, in the 73rd 
year of his age.
The funeral will take place THIS (Friday) MORNING, December 1st, at 11 o'clock, 
from the residence. Friends and acquaintances invited to attend.

                          MR. GEO. M. EDWARDS

The funeral of this aged gentleman, whose death has been noted, was held from 
the residence of his son-in-law, Mr. J.S. Groves, No. 115 Lovitt Avenue, 
Brambleton, at 11 o'clock yesterday morning. The services were conducted by Rev. 
A. Coke Smith, D.D., of Epworth M.E. Church, assisted by Rev. Dr. J.J. Hall, of 
the Park Avenue Baptist Church.  The interment was in Elmwood Cemetery.  The 
obsequies were attended by Norfolk Lodge, No. 1, A.F. and A.M. Following were 
the pallbearers, Messrs. George H. Dawes, S.J. Kennedy, C.S. Stephens, D.P. 
Blount, J.M. Taylor and Howard Lloyd.
