The Norfolk Virginian Pilot December 13, 1937 
 

Mrs. Margarette Brown Edwards, aged 65, widow of James Nash Edwards, died at 
the residence of her niece, Mrs. J.A. Woodhouse, 136 Buckman Avenue, Ocean 
View, yesterday afternoon at 2 o’clock after a short illness. She was a native 
of Princess Anne County and had been a resident of Norfolk practically all her 
life. Mrs. Edwards was the daughter of the late George W. and Mrs. Sarah James 
Brown. Surviving her, besides her niece, area sister, Mrs. H.C. Harding; five 
grandchildren, James W. Edwards, Jay Nash Edwards, Mrs. Dorothy Sanderlin, 
Mrs. Jean Sanderlin, and Mrs. Margaret Whitehurst, and one great grandchild, 
Darrell Nash Whitehurst, all of Norfolk.

Funeral services will be conducted tomorrow afternoon at 2 o’clock from the 
Derry Funeral Chapel at Colley and Harrington Avenues. Burial will be in 
Elmwood Cemetery.
