Ruth P. Edwards, 76, of the 1000 block of Tazewell St., died Dec. 23, 1998, at a
local hospital.

Born in Norfolk, she retired 13 years ago as a supervisor of maids at Little
Creek Amphibious Base after six years of service. She was a member of Garden of
Prayer Worship Center, Norfolk, where she was a member of Usher Board No. 2. She
received the Outstanding Employee Award in 1983 at the Bachelor Officers
Quarters of the Little Creek Amphibious Base. She was predeceased by her
husband, Lloyd Edwards Jr.

She is survived by two daughters, Dolores F. Eure and Millicent E. Washington of
Portsmouth; mother-in-law, Mildred Edwards of Portsmouth; a sister, Jessie
Outlaw of Queens, N.Y.; five grandchildren; four great-grandchildren; and one
great-great-grandchild.

A funeral will be conducted at noon Monday at Garden of Prayer Worship Center,
Norfolk, with Bishop L.E. Willis Sr. and Elder L.E. Willis II officiating.
Burial will be in Calvary Cemetery . The family will receive friends at 1513
Cavalier Blvd., Portsmouth. The remains will be placed in the church at 10 a.m.
Hale Funeral Home is handling arrangements.
