Eley, died in a Norfolk hospital Friday at 11:30 a.m. after an illness of a week. She was a native of Harrellsville, N.C., and had lived in Norfolk for 30 years, lately at 123 W. 27th St. She was a member of First Baptist Church and it's Fidelis Bible Class. She was the daughter of James M. and Mrs. Frances Hancock Powell. In addition to her husband, she is survived by three daughters, Mrs. Frances Williams, Mrs. Maude Rountrey and Mrs. Adele Sorrell, all of Norfolk; two sons, James A. Eley Jr. of Norfolk and Ernest L. Eley of Philadelphia; a brother, Dr. J.A. Powell of Edenton, N.C., nine grandchildren and one great- grandchild. The body will be taken from Cox Funeral Home to First Baptist Church, where a funeral service will be conducted Sunday at 3 p.m. by the Rev. E. Irwin Moshier, pastor. Burial will be in Elmwood Cemetery.
