Virginian-Pilot November 9, 1940
Capt. Robert Hansford Elliott, aged 84, husband of Mrs. Lillie Torksey Elliott, 
a native of Gloucester County and a resident of Norfolk for 50 years, died at 
the Fort Hays Hospital, Columbus, Ohio, yesterday morning at 1:30 o'clock, after 
an illness of one year. Besides his wife, he is survived by one daughter, Mrs. 
Rowland D. Wolff, of Columbus; one son, Willis Elliott, of Hollywood, Calif.; 
one sister, Mrs. Kate Lennon, Coral Gables, Fla.; five grandchildren, Rowland D. 
Wolff, Jr., and Virginia Lee Wolff, both of Columbus; Sadie Lee Elliott, Robert 
Elliott and Betty Elliott.
Funeral services will be conducted at the Ewell & Williamson Funeral Home, 
Thirty-fifth street at Colonial avenue, tomorrow afternoon at 3 o'clock. 
Interment will be in Elmwood Cemetery. The body will arrive this afternoon at 
4:30 over the Norfolk & Western Railway.
