NORFOLK - Frank S. "Lightning" Elliott Sr., 84, of the 700 block of W. 26th St.,
passed away Feb. 10, 2008. He was born May 28, 1923, to the late Marion and
Herbert Bess in Norfolk. He was a member of St. John's AME Church, Norfolk.
Frank retired as a longshoreman with ILA Local 1248 after serving 42 years.
While a longshoreman, he served three months in Iran training persons to drive
forklifts.

He leaves to cherish his memory his wife, Gladys M. Elliott; five daughters,
Gladys M. Jones (Milton Sr.), Ann L. Brown (Alec Jr.), Elnora Forrest and
Antwanette Forrest, all of Norfolk and Una Elliott of Atlanta; five sons, Frank
S. Elliott Jr., Robert I. Elliott, Ryan Elliott and Derrick Edwards, all of
Norfolk and Charles Cherry of Chesapeake; one sister, Leah Baker; and a host of
other relatives and friends.

A funeral will be held at 2 p.m. Saturday in the chapel of Metropolitan Funeral
Service, 7246 Granby St. The Rev. John Burton will officiate. Interment will be
in Calvary Cemetery, Norfolk. Family and friends will assemble at the church for
the service. Condolences may be offered to the family at
