The Virginian Pilot Tuesday October 25, 1960
Mrs. Ethel Thompson Ellis, 76, widow of A. Gray Ellis and daughter of John 
J. and Mrs. Irene Potter Thompson, died in a Norfolk hospital Monday at 3:30 
p.m.
Survivors include three daughters, Miss E. Gladys Ellis of Norfolk, Mrs. 
Wayne P. Pierce of Princess Anne County and Mrs. Harry Schaefer of Richmond; 
two sons, John Leigh Ellis of Norfolk and H. Gray Ellis of Covington; five 
grandchildren and a great-grandson.
A native of Au Sable, Mich., she had been in Norfolk 70 years, residing at 
1250 Oaklette Drive.  She was a member of St. Bride's Episcopal Church.
A funeral service will be held in Hollomon-Brown Funeral Home Wednesday at 
3:30 p.m. with burial in Magnolia Cemetery. In lieu of flowers contributions 
may be sent to St. Bride's Expansion Fund.
