Mr. Ellis was born in Portsmouth. He had retired from Maritime Overseas Steamship Co. He was a member of Naomi Masonic Lodge 87 and was a merchant marine veteran of World War II and the Korean War. He was a Methodist. Survivors include his wife, Patricia S. Ellis; three daughters, Patricia E. King of Cary, N.C., Carol E. Wieck of Wyncote, Pa., and Rebecca E. Werner of Virginia Beach; a sister, Joyce Millan of Virginia Beach; a brother, Robert Ellis of Virginia Beach; seven grandchildren; and one great-grandchild. The graveside service will be conducted at 2:30 p.m. today in Forest Lawn Cemetery by the Rev. Warren Chapman. Hollomon-Brown Funeral Home, Indian River Chapel, is handling arrangements.
