The Virginian-Pilot, Saturday, September 20, 1975

CHESAPEAKE - Matthew Ellis of 729 Quail Ave., the husband of Mrs. Mary Thomas Ellis
and a native of Norfolk County, died Friday in his home.

He worked for Virginia Electric & Power Co. 25 years and retired. He was a lay
member of St. Thomas AME Zion Church.

Other survivors include four sons, Larry Ellis of Virginia Beach, Wayne Ellis and
Melvin Ellis of Philadelphia; a sister, Mrs. Mildred Pryor of Norfolk; and tow
grandchildren.

A funeral service will be held Tuesday at 1 p.m. in St. Thomas AME Zion Church by
the Rev. G.L. Scott. Burial will be in Calvary Cemetery with Hale Funeral Home in
charge.
