Virginian-Pilot, The (Norfolk, VA) - Sunday, February 20, 2000 
James E. Ellis Sr. of the 1000 block of Owls Creek Lane died Feb. 15, 2000.

He was a native of Princess Anne County and a member of St. Mark AME Church,
Virginia Beach. He was a retired firefighter from NAS Dam Neck.

Survivors include two sons, James E. Ellis Jr. of Abilene, Texas, and Phillip J.
Ellis of Washington, D.C.; a sister, Nancy D. Mullen of Virginia Beach; two
brothers, Robert B. Dukes of San Diego, Calif., and William C. Dukes of Boston;
three grandchildren; four great-grandchildren; a host of nieces, nephews, other
relatives and friends; and a special friend, Pauline Barber.

A funeral will be conducted at noon Monday in St. Mark AME Church, Virginia
Beach, by the Rev. Dr. Arthur Mae Lawson. Burial will be in Calvary Cemetery ,
Norfolk. Community Funeral Home, Virginia Beach Chapel, is handling arrangements.
