The Virginian Pilot and Norfolk Landmark May 30, 1927


Mrs. Abbie B Elmore, aged 94, died at the residence of her daughter, Mrs. 
E.L. Bassett, 206 East Twenty-Ninth Street, yesterday morning at 2:30 
o’clock after a short illness. She was a native of Cobourg, Canada, but has 
been a resident of Norfolk for 28 years. Surviving her are two daughters, 
Mrs. F.L. Howard, of Fredericksburg, and Mrs. Bassett; 10 grandchildren and 
12 great-grandchildren. Remains will be taken from the funeral home of James 
V. Derry, 346 West Princess Anne Road, to Burrows Memorial Baptist Church, 
for funeral services, Tuesday afternoon at 2:30 o’clock, the Rev. S.A. 
Campbell will officiate. Burial will be in Elmwood Cemetery.
