New Journal and Guide, December 31, 1960

John Robert Emmett of 1900 Willoughby avenue was given rites Friday at First 
Baptist Church (Bute street), with the Rev. E. Paul Simms officiating. Burial was 
in Calvary Cemetery under direction of Hale Funeral Home.

A native of Matthews County, Mr. Emmett was a member of First Baptist's Men's 
Progressive League, the Masons and Eureka Lodge.

Survivors include his wife, Mrs. Pearl Emmett; a son, John Robert Emmett Jr. of 
New York; and four grandchildren.
