He was a native of Norfolk County, and had spent all of his life in the county with the exception of a two years' residence in South Norfolk. He was a son of the late Maj. William H. and Mrs. Sarah Carson Etheredge, of Norfolk County. The family has been well known in the county for generations. Surviving him are three sons, J.M. and F.T. Etheredge, of Norfolk County, and W.V. Etheredge, Washington; two daughters, Mrs. Ellen Stokes and Mrs. Ludie Williamson, of Norfolk County; two brothers, H.B. Etheredge, South Norfolk and Mellie Etheredge, of Norfolk County; two sisters, Mrs. Lelia A. Whitehurst, of South Norfolk and Miss Mattie R. Etheredge, of Norfolk County; eight grandchildren and two great-grandchildren. Mr. Etheredge was a member of Chesapeake Avenue Methodist Church, South Norfolk. The body was removed to the funeral home of J.R. Williams, 1027 Chesapeake Avenue, South Norfolk, where funeral services will be conducted tomorrow afternoon at 2:30 o'clock. Burial will be in the family lot in Magnolia Cemetery.
