E. ETHEREDGE DIES AT AGE OF 74 Mellie E. Etheredge, aged 74, died last night at his residence at Oak Grove, Norfolk County. He was a son of the late Maj. William H. and Mrs. Sarah Carson Etheredge and a native and lifelong resident of Norfolk County. Mr. Etheredge had been active in the political and social affairs of the county and until recently was a well-known farmer. A few years ago he retired from active farming and since has been living quietly on his estate. Surviving him are two sisters, Miss Mattie R. Etheredge and Mrs. Leila A. Whitehurst and one brother, H. Bascom Etheredge. Mr. Etheredge was a member of Oak Grove Methodist Church. The body was removed to the Funeral Home of J.R. Williams, 1027 Chesapeake Avenue, South Norfolk. Funeral arrangements will be announced later.
