The deceased was a native of North Carolina and had resided in Norfolk for thirty years. He was for a long time prominent in the commercial life of the city and was president and manager of the Merchants' and Farmers' Peanut Company, He is survived by his wife, four daughters, Mrs. W.A. Jackson, Mrs. W.M. Womble, Mrs. Elizabeth Goodenow and Mrs. R.L. Walker all of this city and two sons, W.E. Etheridge, of Winston-Salem, N.C. and D.M. Etheridge of Norfolk. He was a member of Ruth Lodge of Masons and of Pickett-Buchanan Camp Confederate Veterans. The funeral occurs at 3 p.m. today from his late residence, Rev. Dr. S.W. Melton, of the Freemason Street Baptist Church, officiating, assisted by Rev. Geo. W. Jones, of the McKendree Methodist Church, and Rev. V.R. Gaston of the Park Avenue Presbyterian Church. There will be many beautiful floral tributes. Interment in Elmwood Cemetery. Pallbearers: Honorary - John B. Jenkins, Col. Wm. H. Stewart, Walter Santos, Capt. J.W. McCarrick, R.A. Dodson, James G. Womble, Judge M.L. Eure, Frank Lindsay and Robert Tait. Active - Adolph M. Cousins, Luther J. Upton, Morris Adelsdorf, J.T. Wood, M.P. Williams, James L. Winston, L.P. Roberts and Ludlow Watkins.
