Norfolk Landmark November 15, 1890
The funeral of Mr. Calvert Etheridge, the blind man who was killed by falling from 
the third story of the Farmer's Home, Main street near Church, took place 
yesterday morning. He had but few friends and the attendance was small. The 
interment took place in Elmwood Cemetery, the expenses of the funeral being borne 
by the First Baptist Church. Prior to the death of the unfortunate man, a 
gentleman of sympathetic nature collected sufficient money to pay two weeks' 
lodging in advance for him.
