Train In South Norfolk John Etheridge, a thirteen-year-old boy was instantly killed by a Norfolk and Western freight train. The accident occurred halfway between the Norfolk and Western and Norfolk and Southern crossing in South Norfolk at 12:30 o'clock yesterday afternoon. Several boys, it is said, jumped on the train when it slowed up at the crossing, and the little Etheridge boy fell off, the heavy coal cars completely passing over his head completely severing it from the body. The remains were turned over to Funeral Director E. Lee Cox to prepare for funeral and interment. The funeral will take place from the residence of the boy's parents, Mr. and Mrs. W.T. Etheridge of Phillips avenue, South Norfolk. A coroner's jury viewed the remains yesterday and adjourned until Monday when the inquest will be held. ********************************************************************* The funeral of Johnnie Etheridge, the 13 year old son of Mr. and Mrs. William Etheridge, who was run over and killed by a Norfolk and Western coal jack Saturday afternoon will be held at the family residence, in Phillips avenue, this afternoon at 3 o'clock. Rev. Daniel A. Keys, pastor of the South Norfolk Christian Church, will officiate. Interment will be in Magnolia Cemetery. *********** ETHERIDGE -- Suddenly, Saturday afternoon, February 3, at 12:30 o'clock, JOHNNIE CLIFTON ETHERIDGE, son of Wm. T. and Maggie L. Etheridge, Phillips avenue, South Norfolk, aged 12 years, 9 months and 20 days. Funeral from the above residence MONDAY afternoon, February 5, at 3 o'clock. Interment in Magnolia cemetery. Friends invited.
