Virginian Pilot September 5, 1901

The funeral of Lilla Mae, the 8-year-old daughter of Mr. and Mrs. O.M. 
Etheridge, was conducted from the family residence yesterday afternoon at 4 
o'clock and was very largely attended by both old and young.  The deceased, 
though very young, had a large number of friends.  The numerous flowers 
which were brought and laid on her casket evidenced her popularity and their 
sense of loss.  The services were conducted by Rev. Dr. Barr, of St. Luke's, 
Norfolk, and Rev. Robert Gatewood, of St. Paul's, Berkley.  The interment 
was in Magnolia Cemetery and the following were the pallbearers:  Messrs. 
Wallace E. Gibbs, Carl Colonna, J. Lindsay Heard, Frank Morgan, Herman 
Williams, and Andrew Callis.

Beloved friend of my better days;
None knew thee but to love thee, 
Nor named thee but to praise.
Happy hours with thee I once enjoyed; 
How sweet this memory still;
But they have left an aching void
