She was the daughter of Raymond J. McGuire and Margaret Shelley McGuire. Betty was born in Portlock, Norfolk County, now Chesapeake. Mrs. Etheridge was a lifelong member of St. Matthew's Catholic Church. She also was a Sultana with the Order of the Alhambra, Padul Caravan No. 69. She was a life member of Knights of Columbus, Council No. 3548. She worked as a medical technologist for more than 30 years for several doctors in the local area before retiring from DePaul Hospital. Survivors include her husband of 54 years, Edward F. Etheridge; her daughter, Carolyn Etheridge Aunchman, and husband, Kenneth "Chuck"; her sons, Thomas E. Etheridge, and Daniel F. Etheridge, and wife, Pam; grandchildren, Shaun and Kristin Aunchman, Andrew, Alix and Emily Etheridge; step-granddaughter, Angela Aunchman Petersen, husband Scott, and their son, Kyle; her brother, R.M. "Mickey" McGuire; brother-in-law and sister-in-law, Joseph R. and Betty Etheridge; and several cousins and numerous nieces and nephews. A Mass of Resurrection will be held at 11 a.m. Monday at St. Matthew's Catholic Church by the Rev. Joseph Facura. Burial will be private at a later date. A Christian wake will be held at 4 p.m. today at H.D. Oliver Funeral Apartments, Norfolk Chapel. The Alhambra service will follow. The family will be at the funeral home after the wake and at her daughter's residence at other times. In lieu of flowers, contributions can be made to the International Order of the Alhambra, Padul Caravan No. 69 or to a charity of the donor's choice.
