E. ETHERIDGE DIES OF PARALYSIS Member of Street, Sewer And Drain Board And Prominent In Lumber Industry Mr. James E. Etheridge, died at 2:10 o'clock yesterday afternoon at his home, corner of Colonial and Boissevain Avenues, Ghent. The deceased was ill only since Sunday and his death has brought sorrow to many hearts in this city and section, where he was held in high esteem for strict probity and uprightness of character. He had been engaged for a number of years and up to the time of his death in the lumber business and had acquired a competent estate. He was very popular in business circles, of a kind and generous disposition and possessed of affable manners. Mr. Etheridge was a member of the street, sewer and drain board and his death was made known throughout the city by the tolling of the city hall bell. As a mark of respect to his memory the flag on the city hall has been placed at half- mast. The deceased is survived by a brother, Mr. Dennis Etheridge; a widow, who is a daughter of the late Dr. C.A. Santos, and several children. At one time Mr. Etheridge served as a member of the councils. The funeral will be announced later. ************ ETHERIDGE - At his residence, No. 501 Colonial Avenue, Tuesday, February 23, 1904, at 2:10 p.m., JAMES E. ETHERIDGE, aged 51 years. The funeral will take place THURSDAY, February 25th, 1904, at 12 o'clock, from the residence. Friends and acquaintances respectfully invited to attend. Kindly omit flowers. Etheridge will be held from the residence of the deceased, No. 501 Colonial Avenue, Ghent, at noon today and will be attended by a committee of the Board of Trade and Business Men's association and the Masonic fraternity, of which he was a member. The service will be conducted by the Rev. Dr. J.B. Taylor, assisted by the Rev. Dr. C.E. Grammer.
