Virginian-Pilot, The (Norfolk, VA) - Monday, December 21, 1992 
George R. Evans of the 4600 block of Mayflower Road, Apt. 2-B, a retired supply
supervisor, died Dec. 18, 1992, in his residence.

Mr. Evans was born in Norfolk and retired from the Naval Supply Center after 30
years. He was a member of St. John AME Church in Norfolk and the Gospel Choir,
Chancel Choir and the Male Chorus. He was also a member of the Layman, Male
Usher Board, The Omnimen, The What-so-ever Circle and The Missionary Circle. He
retired from the U.S. Army after 30 years and also served in the Korean War.

Survivors include a nephew, William Benton; a sister, Dorothy Taylor; and a
brother, Mark Evans, all of Norfolk.

A funeral will be conducted at noon Tuesday in St. John AME Church by the Rev.
I.W. Knight. Burial will be in Calvary Cemetery . The family will assemble at
the residence. The body will be placed in the church at 10 a.m. Tuesday. Graves
Funeral Home is handling arrangements.
