Norfolk Virginian December 16, 1890
The death of Mr. Richard Evans, which occurred Sunday at his residence on 117 York 
street, was a shock to his many friends. Mr. Evans had been in very bad health for 
some time, but his illness was not expected to take such a sudden turn for the 
worse. He suffered from a complication of diseases. He had many friends in Norfolk 
and was a member of Pickett-Buchanan Camp of Confederate Veterans, having entered 
the Confederate army when a youth. His funeral takes place this afternoon at 3 
o'clock from his late residence.
