Funeral services for Clarence Evans,55, were conducted at Antioch Baptist
Church, Saturday, Feb 28, with the Rev. J. W. Matthews officiating. Mr. Evans,
of 1353 Fulton street, died in a Norfolk hospital recently, after a long illness.

The son of the late Gus and Mrs. Ella Evans, he was a native of Petersburg, VA.
Since coming to Norfolk 40 years ago, Mr. Evans was a longshoreman for 35 years.

He was a member of the Buffalo Lodge, and the Norfolk Beneficial Savings club.
He also served on the usher board at Antioch Baptist Church where he was a member.

Surviving are his wife, Mrs. Carlee Evans; one son Clarence Evans Jr., of
Norfolk; two daughters, Mrs. Saphonia Wilson and Mrs. Marion Ridgely, of
Norfolk; two stepdaughters, Mrs. Shirley Ashe, Mrs. Eloise Williams, of Suffolk;
and six grandchildren.

Burial was in Calvary Cemetery, with B. F. King Funeral Home in charge.
