Mrs. Evett was born in Norfolk. She taught in Norfolk public schools for more than 30 years. She was a member of Ghent United Methodist Church, Phi Mu Sorority, the Virginia Education Association, the National Education Association and Daisy Chain Circle 1, Children's Hospital of the King's Daughters. She was the widow of Edward Hall Evett and a graduate of Randolph-Macon Women's College. Survivors include a daughter, Margaret E. Fitch of Belle Haven; a son, Dr. Russell D. Evett of Norfolk; six grandchildren; and a great-grandchild. A memorial service will be conducted at 11 a.m. Monday in Ghent United Methodist Church by the Rev. Robert C. Hastings. Burial will be in Magnolia Cemetery. Cox Funeral Home is handling arrangements. Memorial donations may be made to Randolph-Macon's college fund, Children's Hospital of the King's Daughters, or the church. Friends may join the family at 6147 Studeley Ave. from 3 to 5 p.m. today.
