Virginian Pilot May 24, 1988

                    EDWARD H. EVETT, EX-BANKING OFFICIAL

Edward Hall Evett, retired executive vice president of Norfolk Savings and Loan 
Association, died May 23, 1988, in a hospital.  He was 86.
Mr. Evett also had worked for Atlantic Permanent Federal Savings and Loan 
Association and Norfolk & Western Railway Co. now known as Norfolk Southern 
Corp.
A Norfolk County native, Mr. Evett was a member of Ghent United Methodist Church 
and a 50-year member of Berkley Masonic Lodge 167.
Survivors include his wife, Elizabeth Dougherty Evett; a daughter, Margaret E. 
Fitch of Huntington, N.Y.; a son, Dr. Russell D. Evett of Norfolk; six 
grandchildren; and a great grandchild.
A memorial service will be conducted at 3 p.m. Wednesday in Ghent United 
Methodist Church by the Rev. Robert Watts.  Burial will be private.
Cox Funeral Home is handling arrangements.
Memorial donations may be made to Ghent United Methodist Church.
Friends may join the family at the home of Dr. Russell D. Evett, 6147 Studeley 
Ave.
