Virginian Pilot October 12, 1907

Jesse V. Ewell, a well known citizen of Landtown, Princess Anne County, died at 
7 o'clock last night at his home. Mr. Ewell was 60 years old and highly esteemed 
by his many friends. Arrangements for the funeral had not been completed last 
night.   (Age 62 per tombstone)

11, 1907, at 7 o'clock p.m., JESSE V. EWELL in the 63d year of his age.
Funeral services from Salem M.E. Church This (Sunday) MORNING at 11 o'clock.  
Friends of the family are invited to attend.  Interment Elmwood Cemetery.

The funeral of Jesse V. Ewell was held from Salem Methodist Church, Princess 
Anne County, at 11 o'clock a.m. Sunday and was numerously attended by people 
from all sections of the county.  The service was conducted by his pastor, Rev. 
J.E. Deshazo, the discourse being followed by a tribute to the deceased by A.E. 
Kellam, clerk of the Princess Anne County Court. The floral tributes were 
profuse and of lovely design, attesting the high esteem in which the deceased 
was held by the people of Princess Anne. The remains were brought to Norfolk and 
laid to rest in Elmwood Cemetery.  Following were the pallbearers: A.E. Kellam, 
W.H. Land, W.C. Petree, Henry James, M.T. Ives, Griffin Hewitt, A.C. Smith and 
J.P. McCoy.
