Virginian Pilot and The Norfolk Landmark August 31, 1924
Miss Helen Antoinette Fairer, 17-year-old student of Maury High School, died at 
the residence of her parents, Mr. and Mrs. A.L. Fairer, 434 Thirteenth street, 
yesterday morning at 8:30 o'clock.  She had been ill for some time.  Besides her 
parents, she is survived by a brother, A.L. Fairer, Jr.  Miss Fairer was well 
known in Norfolk and very popular with members of her class in high school.  
Funeral services will be conducted tomorrow morning at 11 o'clock at the family 
residence, the Rev. Ira D.S Knight, pastor of Park Place Baptist Church and the 
Rev. Sparks W. Melton, D.D., pastor of Freemason Street Baptist Church, 
officiating.  Burial will be in Cedar Grove Cemetery.
