Mrs. Falls was the daughter of the late Joseph and Sarah Finn McPhillips. She was the widow of Francis Charles Falls. They were wed April 26, 1941. Mrs. Falls was born Feb. 10, 1915, in New York City, three months after the arrival of her mother from Ireland. Her parents moved to Norfolk, where she spent the rest of her life. She attended St. Mary's Academy and was a member of Church of the Sacred Heart. She was a choir member for more than 50 years, a member of the Blessed Virgin Mary Sodality, Birthright and Ladies of Charity of St. Vincent de Paul Hospital. Mrs. Falls is survived by a son, Charles, and his wife, Peggy, of Williamsburg; son, Terry, and his wife, Laura, of Norfolk; daughters, Kathie, and her husband, C.B. Moore, of Franklin, and Maureen, and her husband, retired U.S. Navy Capt. Robert Gangewere, of Norfolk; a sister, Sarah Baker, of Norfolk; a brother, T. Joseph McPhillips, and his wife, Julie, of Norfolk; eight grandchildren and seven great-grandchildren. She was preceded in death by a grandson, John T. Falls, Jr., and son, Daniel E. Falls, formerly of Norfolk, and sisters, Molly Reilly, Genevieve Caulfield; and brother, J. Vincent McPhillips. A Christian wake will be conducted Friday at 7 p.m. in H.D. Oliver Funeral Apts., Norfolk Chapel. A joyful Mass of the Resurrection will be conducted at 10 a.m. Saturday in Church of the Sacred Heart by the Rev. John Dorgan and the Rev. Daniel Klem, pastor. Burial will be in St. Mary's Cemetery. Memorial donations may be made to St. Mary's Infant Home. The family will be at 1116 Buckingham Ave., Norfolk.
