John was a native of Norfolk. He graduated from Fork Union Military Academy and was a full-time student at Old Dominion University. He was active in the Marine Corps Reserves and was also a basketball coach for the Norfolk Special Olympics. John is survived by his mother, Barbara H. Falls of Chesapeake; his father, John T. Falls Jr. of Norfolk; a brother, Patrick Joseph Falls of Vienna, Va.; a sister, Heather Tormey Falls of Norfolk; his grandmother, Elaine A. Hopkins of Norfolk; two uncles, Dr. Gerald Falls of Tallahassee, Fla., Thomas Falls of Portsmouth; two aunts, Gloria Emanuel of Norfolk and Mary Lou Falls of Tallahassee; two nephews, Andrew Thomas Falls of Norfolk, Patrick Joseph Falls Jr. of Vienna; and his best friend, John Novak. A Mass of the Resurrection will be conducted at 10 a.m. Tuesday in Sacred Heart Catholic Church, Norfolk, by Father John Dorgan. There will be a wake service at H.D. Oliver Funeral Apartments, Norfolk Chapel, at 7 p.m. today. In lieu of flowers memorial donations may be made to the Norfolk Special Olympics, c/o Susan Collins, treasurer, 2112 Crew Court, Virginia Beach, Va. 23454 or to a charity of choice.
