Norfolk Ledger-Dispatch February 14, 1923
Samuel Dozier Fanshaw died at his residence, 820 North Clay street, yesterday 
afternoon, aged 73 years. Mr. Fanshaw was a resident of Norfolk 60 years, and is 
survived by three sons, Jesse Hillary, John Lyman and Samuel Doran Fanshaw; and 
two daughters, Mrs. Sarah Ann McPhearson, and Mrs. Mary Elizabeth Fatherly, all of 
Norfolk. He was a member of Brambleton lodge 56, Knights of Pythias.
Mr. Fanshaw is also survived by two nieces, Mrs. Henrietta Harrison and Mrs. 
George Barcroft, both of Norfolk.
The funeral takes place at Williams' funeral parlors, 3401 Granby street, 
Thursday, at 10:30 a.m. Burial in Elmwood.
