Norfolk Virginian Pilot June 9, 1943

Mrs. Evelyn George Fantone, aged 47, wife of Hugh F. Fantone, Sr. and daughter 
of the late Marcellus and Mrs. Fannie Hawthorne George, died at Charlottesville 
yesterday afternoon at 4 o'clock. Mrs. Fantone, a lifelong resident of Norfolk, 
resided at 738 Park Avenue. Besides her husband, Hugh F. Fantone, Sr., she is 
survived by two daughters, Mrs. Charlotte Avalon, of Washington, D.C. and Miss 
Evelyn George Fantone, of Norfolk; two sons, John M. Fantone, of Washington, 
D.C. and Sergt. Hugh F. Fantone, Jr., U.S. Army and a sister, Mrs. Marion E. 
Bonney, of Norfolk. Funeral services will be held at the chapel of the H.D. 
Oliver Funeral Apartments, 1501 Colonial Avenue, Thursday morning at 11 o'clock. 
Mrs. Fantone was a member of St. Mary's Catholic Church.

Mrs. Evelyn George Fantone — Funeral services for Mrs. Fantone, wife of Hugh F. 
Fantone, who died Tuesday afternoon at Charlottesville, were held at 11 o'clock 
yesterday morning at the chapel of the H. D. Oliver Funeral Apartments, 1501 
Colonial avenue, with the Rev. P. C. Blackburn, pastor of St. Mary's Catholic 
Church, officiating. Interment was in St. Mary's Cemetery. The pallbearers were 
Claude V. Fantone, J. E. Fantone, J. J. Fantone, William H. Fantone, Edgar 
Winters, Joe Demma, Ezra B. Sams, Leon J. White and Carlisle Tatem.
