Mary Carmel Fantone, 83, of the 1200 block of Burlington Road, a retired head 
bookkeeper, died Dec. 5, 1992, in her home.

Miss Fantone was born in Norfolk and was a lifelong resident. She had retired from 
Shulman's Department Store in Norfolk after 34 years. She was a member of Sacred 
Heart and St. Marks Catholic Churches. She was a member and past president of the 
Daughters of Isabella and was former secretary of Christ Child Circle.

Survivors include a sister, Regina Fantone Manning of Virginia Beach; a niece, 
Patsy Manning Wise; and two nephews, Joe and Jimmy Manning.

A Mass of the Resurrection will be celebrated at 10 a.m. Tuesday in Sacred Heart 
Catholic Church, Norfolk, by the Rev. John J. Dorgan. Burial will be in St. Mary's 
Catholic Cemetery. A Christian wake service will be held at 7 p.m. today in H.D. 
Oliver Funeral Apartments, Norfolk. The family will be at 1217 Burlington Road.

Memorial donations may be made to the American Diabetes Foundation.
