Edwards Farish VIRGINIA BEACH - Muriel L. Edwards Farish passed away her 88th birthday, Aug. 23, 2009, after a short illness. Born in Norfolk on Aug. 23, 1921, she graduated from Maury High School in 1938. She was the daughter of Mabel Odell Pearson Langley and Leslie Cyrus Langley. She is survived by her sister, Patricia L. Lambert and her husband Bob, and their family of Norfolk; and her brother, Leslie P. Langley of Virginia Beach. She was married to the late Stanley N. Edwards for 39 years and was a devoted mother of two daughters, Patricia E. Lassiter of Houston, Texas, and Elaine E. Gathy and husband Ken of Colleyville, Texas; three grandchildren, Jonathan E. Gathy, Cynthia L. Smith, and James M. Lassiter III, all living in Texas; five great-grandchildren, and two great-great- grandchildren, also residing in Texas. In 1999, she married the late George William Farish Sr., who is survived by four children, Pat Daniel and her husband Jim of Virginia Beach, Sandra Green and her husband Cliff of Fairfax, Va., Michael Farish and his wife Bobbie of Lancaster, Pa., and George Farish Jr. and his wife Diane of Carrollton, Va. She was a devoted member of the VFWC Little Creek Women's Club for more than 50 years and was an active member of several bridge groups. She was also a founding member of St. John's United Methodist Church, a member of Ghent United Methodist Church, and later Baylake United Methodist Church. For several years she worked in the Wards Corner Knit Shop doing what she loved best. Mrs. Farish's family would like to thank the Hoy Center of Westminster- Canterbury and Sentara Virginia Beach Hospital nursing and support staff for all of their love and dedication during her illness. A memorial service will be conducted Friday, Sept. 4, at 2 p.m. in the Holy Trinity Chapel at Westminster-Canterbury on the Bay. In lieu of flowers, memorial donations may be sent to Westminster-Canterbury Foundation, c/o The Fellowship Fund, 3100 Shore Drive, Virginia Beach, VA 23451. H. D.
