Farr, Jr. (Ernie), New Smyrna Beach, FL, born November 15, 1919, in Augusta, GA, was awarded his Angel wings on Sunday, May 17th, 2010, while residing at the Port Orange Hospice Center. A Veteran of the United States Air Force, he would have considered them to be his highest flying honor achieved. Ernie proudly enlisted and served his country for 6 years during World War II in the Pacific, and was assigned to the 37th Troop Carrier Squadron. He was a proud American Patriot. He served as an Elder for the 7th Day Adventist Church and often sang and provided special music. He led a full and useful life and was a loving husband to Delores Farr, who preceded him in death in 1996. A law enforcement officer for the Georgia State Patrol, he was often requested by President Dwight D. Eisenhower to provide protective service while attending Augusta National Golf Tournaments. After marriage to Delores, he moved to VA and became a Norfolk Police Sergeant, and later a Detective for The Office of the Norfolk Commonwealth's Attorney. He successfully opened a Polygraph & Bail Bonding business after leaving the City of Norfolk, and retired in 1984. Forever a loving Father, Grandfather, & Great Grandfather, he is survived by his children, Gail Kosmas, New Smyrna Beach, FL, Cheryl Farr Millam, Norfolk, VA, and Pierce Farr , Orlando, FL. Son, Larry D. Farr, Virginia Beach, VA, preceded him in death in August, 2008. Other survivors include, son-in-Laws, Steven Kosmas, New Smyrna Beach, FL, and Michael Millam, Norfolk, Va; daughter-in Law, Jeanette Farr, Virginia Beach, VA. Surviving grandchildren, Ashley Taylor, Los Angeles, CA, Adam Barker, New Smyrna Beach, FL, Robin Farr & Heather Farr Abril, Va Beach, VA; great-grandchildren, Noah Abril & Caitlyn Farr, Va Beach, VA, will cherish the memories of their "Papa". Ernie loved all animals and especially his faithful companion, "Mister T".
