THOMAS A. FARREN Mr. Thomas A. Farren, a well-known and popular citizen of Norfolk, died at the residence of his mother, No. 240 Bute Street, yesterday morning at 5 o'clock. Kidney disease was the cause of his death, and from it, he had been a sufferer for some time past, and his death was not unexpected. Mr. Farren was, for a long time, superintendent of the Second Ward of the city for the Democratic Party, in whose cause he was an ardent worker. He was, at one time, one of the city constables and, under the Cleveland administration, he was a deputy United States marshal. His funeral will take place this morning at 9 o'clock from St. Mary's Catholic Church. FUNERALS The funeral of Mr. Thomas Farren took place yesterday morning at 9 o'clock from St. Mary's Catholic Church and was very largely attended. The services at the church and grave were conducted by the Rev. Father John Doherty, the pastor of the church. The interment was in the Catholic Cemetery and the following gentlemen acted as pallbearers: Messrs. A. J. Dalton, Frank Wood, Thomas J. Murray, D. C. Bell, Henry C. Frazier, T. Blackford Gwatkin, Thomas King and John Dollard, comprising citizens and members of the Firemen's Association.
