NORFOLK - Veronica L. Fatherly, daughter of the late Alvin A. Thorogood, Sr. and 
Annie L. Thorogood, was born Oct. 28, 1950, in Norfolk. She departed this life 
Nov. 10, 2006, peacefully, in the comfort of her family at Bon Secours DePaul 
Medical Center. Ms. Fatherly worked at Bank of America for 23 years and received 
numerous certificates and awards. She ended her career with the Miller Oil Group. 
Ms. Fatherly was a longtime member of the Antioch Missionary Baptist Church, where 
she served many years singing in the choir. She was also a founding member of the 
Sister Saturday Organization.

She leaves to cherish her memory two devoted sons, Amos T. (Wendy) Fatherly, III, 
of Chesapeake, and Victor T. (Rita) Fatherly, of Huntersville, N.C.; two 
grandchildren, Jessica A. Fatherly, and Justin A. Fatherly, of Chesapeake; a 
mother, Annie L. Thorogood; sisters, Barbara Wright, Estelle Banks, all of 
Norfolk, and Venita Gaines, of Chesapeake; brothers, Alvin Thorogood, Jr., 
Lafayette Thorogood, and Andre Thorogood, all of Norfolk; her former husband, Amos 
T. Fatherly, Jr., of Virginia Beach; and a host of other relatives and friends. 
Those who preceded her in death are her father, Alvin Thorogood Sr. and sister, 
Recita Drew.

The family will receive friends at Graves Funeral Home from 6 to 7 p.m. today. A 
funeral will be held at noon Wednesday in Antioch Missionary Baptist Church.
