S. Faville died Sunday morning at 11:30 at the family residence, corner of Berkley avenue and Fourth street, after a long illness. He was about 78 years of age and leaves a widow, three sons—Dr. Geo. C. Faville, Atlantic City ward, Norfolk, Mr. Fred F. Faville, attorney-at-law, Storm Lake, Iowa, Mr. A. S. Faville, Jr., bookkeeper and cashier of the Belt Line Union Stock Yards, of this place-one daughter—Miss Faville, of Berkley—and three brothers—Messrs. Martin and Minor Faville, of Iowa, and Mr. Charles Faville, of New York—two sisters— Mrs. T. W. Thurston, Albert Lea, Minn., and Mrs. H. H. Burrington, Waverly, Iowa. The deceased was born in Manheim, Herkinner county, N.Y., and attended school at Cazenovia Seminary, New York, and Poultney, Vt. From thence he went to California and Australia during the gold fever, remaining two years in each. From the latter place he went to Iowa and was one of the pioneer settlers in 1855. He taught the first public school and organized the first Sunday school in Mitchell county, where he became active in public affairs. He held successively the offices of county surveyor, probate judge, auditor and treasurer, and subsequently represented Mitchell and Howard counties in the Thirteenth General Assembly. He was a brother of the Hon. Orian Faville, first Lieutenant-Governor of Iowa, who was also a pioneer settler. The deceased was a member of the Congregational church and the Masonic fraternity. The funeral was conducted from the residence yesterday afternoon at 2:30 o'clock, Rev. A. Coke Smith, D.D., of Epworth M. E. church, Norfolk, and Rev. W. A. Slaymaker, of the Armstrong Memorial Presbyterian church, this place, officiating. The remains were interred in Elmwood Cemetery. Norfolk.
