Norfolk Ledger-Dispatch January 4, 1909
Walter Fentress died last evening at 7:20 o'clock at his home, No. 217 North 
Maltby avenue, Brambleton, after a long illness, in the 77th year of his age. He 
had been practically an invalid for twenty-five years and was confined to his home 
for the most of that time. He was formerly a brickmason and contractor and was 
well known and highly esteemed in the community. He was a member of Harmony Lodge 
of Odd Fellows. He is survived by two children, Herbert S. and Harry N. Fentress, 
of Norfolk, and two sisters, Mrs. Berguson (sic) and Mrs. Lovitt, both of 
Portsmouth. The funeral occurs at 3 p.m. tomorrow from his late residence and will 
be conducted by Rev. C. H. Galloway, of Trinity Methodist Church.
