Fentress, a well known and highly esteemed citizen of the county, died at his home in Chesapeake avenue, South Norfolk, yesterday morning at 2 o'clock after a long illness from heart trouble. The deceased was a native of Centerville, where he lived until a few years ago when he moved to South Norfolk with his family and where he has continued to live since. The deceased was a Democrat and took a very active part in the councils of the party during the straightout Democratic fight in the county. He was 60 years old and is survived by a widow, one brother, Burwell Fentress, of this city and a sister, Mrs. A. Dozier, of Hickory. The deceased recently returned from the mountains of the State where he spent several weeks hoping to regain his health. He was a member of the Centerville Baptist Church and possessed a large circle of friends. The funeral will be conducted from the above residence Sunday afternoon at 3 o'clock and the interment will be in Magnolia Cemetery. ************************************************************* The funeral of the late Joseph B. Fentress, who died Friday morning at his home in Chesapeake avenue, South Norfolk, was conducted from the residence yesterday afternoon and was very largely attended. In addition to many friends of his immediate neighborhood there were in attendance many persons from the county, where he formally lived near Hickory Ground. Rev. C.S. Pierce, pastor of the South Norfolk Baptist Church; Rev. D.A. Keys, pastor of the South Norfolk Christian Church, and Rev. B.B. Scott, pastor of the Liberty Street M.E. Church, officiated and the interment was in Magnolia Cemetery. The pallbearers were: Dr. N.G. Wilson, Dr. J.P. Jackson, Alex Dozier, Mr. Roach, Mr. Grandy and Clayton Wood.
