Virginian Pilot January 27, 1907

John C. Fentress died at the home of his son, William H. Fentress, No. 408 
Clay Avenue, Brambleton, at 9:15 o'clock a.m. yesterday at the advanced age 
of 81 years.  The deceased was born in Princess Anne County, but had been a 
resident of Norfolk for over a half century.  He leaves a widow and five 
children, viz: William H. Fentress, Frederick Fentress, Mrs. C.L. Griffin, 
Misses Eliza and Lillie Fentress and one sister, Mrs. John D. James of 
Princess Anne County.  The funeral will be solemnized from the residence of 
his son at 11 o'clock Monday morning and will be conducted by Rev. W.G. 
Starr, D.D. of the Cumberland Street Methodist Church.
