Mrs. Fentress, a lifelong resident of Norfolk, had been living in Media since the death of her husband in September. Before leaving Norfolk, she had resided at 1406 Westover Ave. She was a graduate of the Norfolk College for Young Ladies and was an active member at Freemason Street Baptist Church. She served as the president of the Ladies Aid Society, now the Women's Missionary Society. During her tenure of office she was instrumental in 1934 in establishing the Melton Scholarship to Westhampton College, which for 27 years furnished financial assistance to young women of the church. She was also a former teacher of the Amoma Class and later president of the Fellowship Class of the Sunday school. In addition to her son, she is survived by a daughter, Mrs. Thomas Andrew Ahroon, of Colorado Springs, Colo.; a sister, Mrs. William B. Anselm of Bayside and six grandchildren. Members of the out-of-town family are at the home of Mrs. Fentress's niece, Mrs. W.O. Sherman Jr., 513 Battery Road, Bayside. The body is at the H.D. Oliver Funeral Apartments. Funeral services will be held at Freemason Street Baptist Church Saturday at 11 a.m., by the pastor, Dr. William L. Lumpkin. Burial will be in Elmwood Cemetery. The family has said that expressions of sympathy take the form of contributions to the Virginia Baptist Home at Culpeper.
