R. Fentress Dies: In Business Here 50 Years. For the Past Quarter of Century He Was Well Known in Real Estate Circles - Was Bor Born in Princess Ann 76 Years Ago W. R. Fentress, an old and highly esteemed resident of Norfolk, died at his h home, No. 508 Duncan Avenue, at 3:35 o'clock yesterday afternoon in the 77th y year of his age. Mr. Fentress had been in failing health for some time, but his fatal illness w was of only ten days duration. The deceased was a native of Princess Anne County but had been a resident of Norfolk for nearly a half century and had been in the real estate and rental business in this city for twenty-five years. Prior to that he was connected with the mercantile trade and was widely known throughout Eastern Virginia and North Carolina. He was a prominent member of the Queen Street Methodist Church. For several years he was president of the board of stewards and was a member of that body at the time of his death. He is survived by a wife, Mrs. Katherine A. Fentress; one son, W. K. Fentress; a daughter, Miss Lillie Fentress, and other relatives. He was a member of Pickett-Buchanan Camp of Confederate Veterans, A Atlantic Lodge of Masons, and the Royal Arcanum. Funeral services will be held from his late residence at 3 o'clock Sunday afternoon and will be attended by members of the orders with which he was connected. The service will be conducted by his former pastor, Rev. J. J. Bradford and Dr. Sparks W. Melton of the Freemason Street Baptist Church.
